CTE - A YEAR IN REVIEW ...2024

As 2024 comes to a close, let’s reflect on CTE and showcase some of the highlights from this year before we step into 2025.

Agriculture Science - FFA students showed their animals off at the Clare county fair with Megan Veitengruber placing first in her dairy feeder showmanship class.

Automotive Technology- Students in Automotive Technology are applying their knowledge of electrical circuits while working on the CTE Festival of Lights float!

Construction Trades - Two new cabins, built by Clare-Gladwin CTE Construction students last year in collaboration with Gladwin City and the Parks Commission, were completed in the spring and transported to the campground.

Criminal Justice - The Clare-Gladwin CTE Criminal Justice program integrated a donated patrol car, provided by Lt. Mike Bailey, Sheriff John Wilson, and the County of Clare, into its curriculum, enhancing hands-on training for students and preparing them for careers in criminal justice.

Culinary Arts - Culinary arts competed in the ProStart state competition competing against 400 other students, taking 5th place as a team overall.

Diesel Technology and Advance Manufacturing - CTE Student Excellence Awards Ceremony, honored students in categories such as Most Improved, Above & Beyond, Outstanding Student, and Work-Based Learning. Pictured are students receiving awards from Diesel Technology and Advanced Manufacturing.

Digital Media - First year students learned fundamental photography skills from Traeton Celestino.

Education Occupations - Education occupations students attended the FCCLA leadership conference competing in competitive events and receiving golds in their selected fields.

Health Occupations - Health Occupations hosted a Teddy Bear Clinic at Clare Primary Schools teaching students about everyday health care with the help from teddy bears.

Welding Technology - Landon Sharp, a second-year CTE Welding student, gained real-world experience in welding, hydraulics, and fabrication through a work-based learning position at Smith Truck Body.

Reality Store - Volunteers from CTE and Mid Michigan College worked with middle school students teaching them the fundamentals of money management and budgeting, as well as career planning.

Summer Camp - The Clare-Gladwin CTE Summer Camp offered students in grades 7-11 the chance to explore future career paths through hands-on training and real-world experiences.

Expansion Groundbreaking - Clare-Gladwin RESD broke ground on April 5, 2024, on the new Career Education Center, funded by a $15 million grant from the State of Michigan's Labor and Economic Opportunity Department, which will provide state-of-the-art facilities and resources for students across the region when it opens in Fall 2025.
